The purpose of this paper is to formulate a strict Darwinian epistemology that combines some of the main variants of evolutionary epistemology while avoiding their pitfalls. The proposed formulation will be based on historical analysis and on analogies that adhere closely to the spirit of Darwinism. By placing this view in a context that includes rival theories and their metaphysics, it will be possible to transcend Darwinism itself.
